German Chocolate Pie

1 4 oz bar of german chocolate
1/4 c butter
1 12 oz can pet milk (brand name, same as evaporated milk)
1 1/2 c sugar
3 tbs cornstarch
1/8 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 pie crust
1 1/2-1 3/4 c coconut angel flake, not a cheap imitation
1/2 c nuts I like walnuts

Melt chocolate and butter on low. Stir until blended.
Set off heat, add the milk.
Mix the sugar cornstarch and salt.  beat the eggs into the sugar mixture, gradually add chocolate mixture to sugar and beat well.  Pour into the shell.
Combine the coconut and nuts.  Sprinkle over the pie filling,.

375 for 45 minutes or until puffy and light brown.  You may need to remove it from the oven and microwave it for about 2-2 1/2 minutes to get the center to set up..
Definitely let it cool or even refrigerate before eating it tastes soooo good that way!

Enjoy!!

2019 Thanksgiving Notes:
*I started baking at 350 for 15 min (finishing another pie at the same time) then raised temp to 375 for remainder of the cooking time.
**Cover crust with foil to prevent over browning
